The Pegagogy of Reading for Pleasure

Kiran is an experienced Primary teacher and leader, specialising in Literacy and Reading. Kiran has written chapters for several edu-books, including Re-imagining fairytales for The DiverseEd Manifesto and Reader Volition in the Open University’s Reading Teachers book. She is the 2023 UKLA/Farshore award winner – Reading Champion and Author’s Choice where her insightful, pioneering work on Pupil voice, choice and DEI was celebrated. Kiran is passionate about Reading being an enabler for all children by ensuring intersectional lived experiences are representative, especially stories centred on displacement and refugees. At the core of her passion is enabling empathy to develop through Reading.
